Executive Placement: Chris Bastian, CTO of SCTE

TD Madison was engaged by SCTE (Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers) in 2015 to conduct executive discovery and recruitment for the society’s new Chief Technology Officer. SCTE is the premier membership organization for technical professionals in the cable and telecommunications industry. It plays a key role in connecting its members, providing training services, and building relationships between individuals and organizations throughout the cable and telecommunications industry.

SCTE’s CTO is responsible for supporting technical initiatives, implementing standards, and developing and managing SCTE’s training curriculum. SCTE was looking for candidates with strong technical capabilities in the cable and broadband field as well as proven leadership abilities in training and technical standards.

Following an exhaustive executive search and assessment process conducted by TD Madison, SCTE selected Chris Bastian as the strongest candidate. Bastian’s previous roles included Executive Director of Xfinity Wireless Operations and Network Architecture at Comcast, where he was responsible for end-to-end service operations, customer support, and network deployment.

Bastian was appointed SVP and CTO at SCTE in December 2015 and remains with SCTE today. He is responsible for all areas of technology and engineering at SCTE, ensuring that SCTE maintains its leadership role in standardizing and operationalizing advanced network technology. He has led many successful projects at SCTE, including the multi-year Energy 2020 program.
